Project Partners
Sakarya University, Turkey
This research project is being coordinated by a team at Sakarya University in collaboration with Centre for Media, Human Rights and Peacebuilding, UK. The team consists of professors, lectures and researchers in the Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of International Relations and Faculty of Communication . Sakarya University School of Engineering and Architecture, which was established in 1970, is the foundation of Sakarya University. The school was transformed into Sakarya State Architecture and Engineering Academy in 1971 and provided education as a faculty affiliated to Istanbul Technical University between 1982-1992. Sakarya University was established with the law numbered 3837 and dated July 3, 1992. Sakarya University is the first and only state university to have ISO-2002 Quality Certificate and “EFQM Excellence Quality Certificate of Competency Level”. International cooperation is expected to improve the quality of the primary processes. Cooperation with so many institutions under the framework of EU Programmes and other international programs or bilateral cooperation agreements testifies to this goal.
Centre for Media, Human Rights and Peacebuilding
The Center for Media, Human Rights and Peacebuilding (CMHRP) acts as the implementing partner for this project. Experience and knowledge of CMHRP’s experts in media, human rights and peacebuilding is of great advantage to this project. CMHRP is registered with the Companies House in the UK under the Company number 08809003. Media and peace scholars attended in the administrative meeting of the Media, Conflicts and Human Rights Commission at International Peace Research Association’s 26th General Conference organised in December 2016, in collaboration with Northumbria University (UK), Sakarya University (Turkey) and the University of Sierra Leone (Freetown, Sierra Leone). Participants recommended that more emphasis be given to action-oriented projects for strengthening Track II and Track III diplomatic initiatives, rather than just organising conferences and meetings. In line with their recommendations, the Centre for Media, Human Rights and Peacebuilding (CMHRP) has been set up as a not-for-profit and non-governmental policy, research, practice and learning institute of self-governing experts, academics, journalists and media practitioners active in the field of media, human rights and peacebuilding.
